The worst is yet to come? September 29, 2008

No, not with the economy. I’m hearing there are more totally disastrous clips of the moron Sarah Palin’s interview with Katie Couric that have YET to be aired. Of course, the left-wing “MSM” will likely release the clip, in which it’s allegedly revealed that Palin can’t name ANY court cases outside of Roe vs. Wade. Jesus, Republicans. I can at least see somewhat how you can admire and support a guy like McCain, but how in the hell can you remain silent on his pick for VP? This woman is a fucking disaster and I imagine she’ll be hanging out in the bunker more than Dick Cheney!

Can you imagine this woman being the President of the Senate?!?

If this is accurate it’s brutal. McCain is toast.

2. Hube - September 30, 2008

Looks like it yet another totally false anti-Palin Internet smear:

3. Rob Foraker - September 30, 2008

I’m hearing there are more totally disastrous clips of the moron Sarah Palin’s interview (criticism is a reflection of ourselves) Can you refrain from childish namecalling.

4. Mike Matthews - September 30, 2008

Interesting. It says they’ve aired the complete official Couric interview as part of the series that started last week. In that link, it does say that there is more footage from the “Vice Presidential Questions” series (also hosted by Katie Couric), so I’m guessing it could be part of that.

That being said, I’m glad I put a question mark on the end of this post headline!

5. Mike Matthews - September 30, 2008

Though, to be honest, if this isn’t true, it doesn’t make her a moron. It still, though, makes her ridiculously unqualified for the job.

6. arthur - September 30, 2008

I am starting to wonder…do you think the republican party is continuing the premise of ‘if we put a monkey out there, die hard party affiliates will vote for them.’ working on 8 years of it right now.

7. Hube - September 30, 2008

It still, though, makes her ridiculously unqualified for the job.

Just like Barack Obama!

8. Mike Matthews - September 30, 2008

Hube,

I’m sorry, but Barack isn’t nearly as unqualified as Palin. I originally dismissed the “unqualified” argument against Palin a month ago because it wasn’t fair; we didn’t know where she stood on the issues and she hadn’t been properly interviewed by the press. Not the left-wing MSM, Hube. All the questions being asked of Palin are legitimate, though you may certainly disagree. Gotcha or no, the questions are fine. She has proven herself inept and unqualified by the responses given in only three interviews she and the campaign have approved.

Say what you will about Obama, Hube (and I know you have), but the man isn’t unqualified. I know I’m going to get a ribbing for this, but he’s got a fucking law degree from Harvard. Sure, to you that means nothing. But, here’s the thing about Obama: We have a trove of interviews on which to judge his qualifications and “experience.” We also have the first debate from last Friday, where any sane mind realizes that he at least tied John McCain, if not wiping him out altogether.

So keep coming with the “unqualified” line. It shows how really desperate you guys are. That bubble you’ve got around your saviour Palin is about to burst. Biden has his gaffes, but at least he’s not a complete trainwreck. Palin is a joke. If McCain should be elected and dies of a coronary on day two and Palin takes over, please tell me, Hube, that your blog will at least post commentary calling Palin out the same way your blog has been an incessant sound board for “anti-messiah” commentary these past few months.

9. Hube - September 30, 2008

So keep coming with the “unqualified” line. It shows how really desperate you guys are.

Awww gee, really Mike?? Desperate? Or is it “desperate” that you have the most most ridiculously unqualified candidate in modern memory running for PRESIDENT (not veep), and the only reason he even has a chance is b/c of the bungling George Bush. That’s IT. Period. The man has A RIDICULOUS resume behind him, and if the f***ing MSM actually did its job instead of cheerleading for him, he’d never have made it past the primary. Get a f***ing clue.

And once again, Mike, spare me the self-righteous “You’d better call Palin out” BS. I’ll run Colossus the way I wish, and you run your blog same. Oh, and I’m sure you’re over at DE Liberal telling them what you tell me.

Give me a f***ing break, dude.

10. Mike Matthews - September 30, 2008

Dude,

You obviously don’t hang out at DL enough, because I’ve gone off on them NUMEROUS times in the past with what I feel is their ham-handed response to any variety of topics they attack on a daily basis. In fact, I’ve attacked them more than I’ve attacked you. I generally don’t attack your site because I just don’t think it’s worth it. You simply have an opinion opposite of mine and I’m never going to change that. So, why bother?

11. Hube - September 30, 2008

You’re so “fair,” Mike.

Whatever …

12. Mike Matthews - September 30, 2008

Thanks for conceding that point!! ;-)

13. ANON - September 30, 2008

Arthur, they have put a “monkey” out there, her name is Sarah Palin. This woman is certifiable. How can any republican support a woman whose ministers was chasing away witches? Troopergate? Affair with her husbands business partner? Another liar and exagerator like GWBush? Another “God” will take care of everything. She is an embarassment and republicans with a brain are calling for her resignation. At least they have the sense to throw in the towel on that lunatic before the republican brand is destroyed for decades.

14. Hube - September 30, 2008

ANON: How can Democrat support a man whose minister is an anti-American conspiratorial loon that makes Liz Allen pale in comparison? That hangs out with unrepentant terrorists? Another liar and exaggerator like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi? He is an embarrassment to anyone with a brain.

The bright side to an Obama victory is that 2010 will make 1994 look like a walk in the park in comparison…

15. Dominique - September 30, 2008

Mike – I don’t know how anyone who supports Obama can criticize Palin’s lack of expertise and say that she’s not ready for the job with a straight face. Those who say she should step down are right…as long as Obama does the same. After all, they share the same shortcomings.

She’s had a couple of ugly interviews, but to compare her to today’s Obama simply isn’t fair. Apart from the fact that, as Hube mentioned, she’s the veep candidate as opposed to the top of the ticket, today’s Obama is hardly the same as last year’s Obama. She’s new to the national scene, give her a chance to get her bearings about her. God knows Obama made some stupid statements early on as well (sure, I’ll meet with Iran’s president without pre-conditions! why not?), but he’s been spit-and-polished quite nicely by his handlers since then.

I consider you to be a reasonable guy. Do you really think the MSM treats him the same way they treat her (or any other candidate, for that matter)? I don’t remember anyone ever quizzing him like Charlie Gibson quizzed her. I don’t remember anyone grilling his campaign staffers about his qualifications like Campbell Brown grilled Tucker Bounds about hers. Hell, I don’t remember anyone asking him any question that he couldn’t answer with a line from one of his stump speeches.

I don’t care if she doesn’t have foreign policy experience. I don’t care if she doesn’t know the economy inside an out. I don’t care if she can’t name any SCOTUS cases other than Roe v Wade off the top of her head. I don’t care if her preacher worships lizards. I don’t care if she’s not a scholar. When I hear Sarah Palin speak, I hear someone real. I hear someone who has raised a family and owned a business and been involved with her kids’ schools and run a small town and managed a state budget. I hear someone who knows energy inside and out. I hear someone who can connect with voters in a way that Barack Obama – with all his fancy degrees – will never be able to.

I’m hardly in awe of Palin. I wouldn’t vote for her if she was running for president, but she’s not. Please don’t give me the ‘heartbeat away from the presidency’ bullshit, either. McCain isn’t going to die in office. Even if he does, you know what scares me more than the idea of Sarah Palin as president? A government run by one party (again) and the guy at the top of the ticket gazing lovingly at himself in the mirror while our country falls further into the shitter.

16. Hube - October 1, 2008

LOL … I see the Huffington Post, which reported yesterday that CBS already has shown the entire Palin interview, reported on the supposed “no SCOTUS cases” gaffe. Our moron pals at DE Liberal have already “reported” this as fact. And good ‘ol Keith Olbermann did so last night, too.

Now tell me — what is the difference between all this Palin BS and far-right sites “reporting” that Obama is really a Muslim, really wasn’t born in the US, really is a communist, etc.? What would be Olbermann’s and DE Liberal’s reaction if DE Politics and/or Bill O’Reilly reported these as “fact?”

17. Mike Matthews - October 1, 2008

You’re right, Dom. When I hear Sarah Palin speak, I, too, hear someone real. Real stupid.

Dom, I’m sorry but your litany of ridiculousness in the fourth paragraph is just that — ridiculous. Outside of that, I can certainly understand where you’re coming from. IN short, you don’t care if someone has the intelligence to hold the job of President of the United States. That’s a fair opinion. An opinion I will never hold. Because I do want a president who has some foreign policy experience. I do want a president who has some experience on the economy. I do want a president who can name a SCOTUS case outside of Roe v. Wade. I do want a president who is a scholar (or, at least someone who’s smarter than me). I do want a president whose preacher doesn’t worship a lizard.

I love your assumption that Obama can’t connect with voters and that Palin does. You know what they say about assumptions, don’t you?

And, Hube, as for Obama’s anti-American preacher, I broke this down on air last week. It reminds me of a Chris Rock skit from about a decade ago on the OJ Simpson murder case. The skit went something like: “I don’t agree, but I can UNDERSTAND.” And that’s how I feel about Rev. Wright. He’s a black man who has likely been fucked over by “whitey” once or twice in his life. He’s got a chip on his shoulder and is an angry black man with a [bully] pulpit. Like Chris Rock says, “I don’t agree with what he says, but I can UNDERSTAND.” Here’s the Rock clip.

Now, as for Palin’s preacher, I can neither agree NOR understand. He’s a fucking WITCH doctor. Say what you will about Rev. Wright, and you should, but all he was was an angry black man raging against whitey and a country that, for 300 years shafted his race. I don’t agree, but I can UNDERSTAND! As for Palin’s witch doctor, I just don’t understand.

18. h. - October 1, 2008

Hube, I think Palins choice of minister, you know the witch BURNER, looks just as bad if not worse.

19. Hube - October 1, 2008

Are you guys for real?? “Hers is worse.” “I can understand Wright.”

Boy, you’ve sold me! Now try selling it to the general public! LOL!

20. h. - October 1, 2008

Most people don’t even remember Rev.Wright.

21. Mike Matthews - October 1, 2008

Hube,

Yes, hers is worse. Here’s why. Whereas Wright’s anti-American rants are ridiculous and offensive, I can at least understand them in some tangible way. However, the witch doctor from Kenya? Come on, dude. I simply can NOT understand that. It’s a fucking farce. And it’s ridiculous. Conservatives for months have complained about Obama: “Will he seek the spiritual guidance of hard-line black preachers like Wright should he win the presidency?” Frankly, I don’t think he will now that the press has so thoroughly eviscerated (rightly so) the Wright story. However, I’m more interested in who will be guiding Palin’s spirituality should she be elected alongside McCain. Will voodoo dolls be the order of the day in the White House? Will dried chicken heads be hanging from the ceiling? Of course not, but when you’ve got a witch doctor as a spiritual adviser, it leaves a lot of room for questions.

It’s the conservatives who have made religion an issue in EVERY election, Hube. They feel it’s appropriate to bring it into the sphere of public debate and to question and criticize those candidates who may not hold in the same esteem their whacko perversions of Christianity. All the liberals are doing is playing the same game the conservatives have: You want to attack our candidate because of his whacky affiliation with a whacky minister? Fine. Don’t get pissed off when we attack your candidate for the same!

22. Hube - October 1, 2008

Mike: Why do you persist in being so full of s***? Is it b/c of your new “on-air persona?” Gag me with a shovel.

It is the FAR right which denounce others who don’t share their “whacko perversions of Christianity,” pal, not mainstream cons. And you’re right — Palin is fair game for this criticism. But don’t try to justify and alleviate your preposterous sense of “fairness” by relinquishing Wright of his asininity. (You just can’t decide, Mike. Is that how you’re “fairer” than me? You blast Wright, then say you “understand” him, then say Palin is worse, yada yada yada. It’s so much bulls***.) Wright makes Liz Allen look like a piker. And Obama sat in his church for 20 freakin’ years.

23. Mike Matthews - October 1, 2008

The problem, Hube, is the far-religious-right makes up the base of the party. Anyone will tell you that’s about 30-35% of the electorate. Hube, if you want any idea what I’m talking about, stream WGMD for an hour and listen to the callers. Do it. My cd player is broken in my truck, so I’ve been listening to it on my rides to the studio. If the callers into those WGMD shows are any indication of the “moderate” right-wing, then everything I said above is true, Hube. You can’t always be right, my friend. The right-wing base makes up 30-35% of the electorate and these are the people who pick candidates based on their allegiance to both country and The Bible.

Don’t wanna believe it? That’s your fault.

24. ANON - October 1, 2008

Witch Doctor is less offensive to Hube? Who knew? Gee Hube I see you have those religious blinders on when it comes to Christianity, but immediately remove them when the word zionism is mentioned? Enough with religions of all kind…its the consitution we should all be supporting…this is an stupid argument.

25. arthur - October 1, 2008

Come one give Mike a break. He’s driving each day to Lower Delaware for a job.

26. Hube - October 1, 2008

Hey ANON — when did I say the witch doctor is less offensive? They’re both ridiculous. It’s Matthews who made the case that Wright is “less offensive.”

And Mike — just to be clear, you’re saying that 30-35% of the electorate (the far-religious-right of the GOP) “questions and criticizes those candidates who may not hold in the same esteem their whacko perversions of Christianity?” Is that your point about 30-35% of the electorate? Watching too much Bill Maher for common sense, Mike?

BTW, if 30-35% of the electorate is “far religious right,” this means that less than 20% is the rest of the GOP. Is this really what you’re claiming, Mike? Just so I don’t have to take your word for it (make it “my fault”), maybe you’d care to back up your assertion.

27. Mike Matthews - October 1, 2008

I’m not complaining about the high number. I’ve said FOREVER that the reason the GOP wins more elections than the Democrats is that they’re better organized and they’ve got a more fervent, loyal base than the Democrats. I believe that base is about 30-35% – the group of Republicans who simply would NEVER vote for a Democrat. I believe that the Democrats in that same field would be more like 15-20%. The “far-left” so to speak.

28. Hube - October 1, 2008

Well, there’s a difference between “the base” being 30-35% of the GOP and far-right religious wackos being 30-35% of the GOP.

At any rate, I’m pissed I missed Fulcher today!! I’ll have to check the podcast.

29. Hube - October 1, 2008

OUCH. It’s true. It’s f***in’ true. The Palin SCOTUS question from Couric. Palin dodged and COULDN’T NAME A SINGLE SCOTUS CASE OTHER THAN ROE V. FUCKING WADE!!!!!

Goodbye McCain …

30. miscreant - October 1, 2008

“If the callers into those WGMD shows are any indication of the “moderate” right-wing, then everything I said above is true, …”

We’re not all like that down here, Matthews. WGMD appeals to a certain demographic, and then gets those knuckle draggers in a lather in order to sell radio time to purveyors of snake oil, cell phones, financial services, reverse mortgages, God, shoes, and other shit no one can do without. The remainder of the population is from our surrounding states and that third world shithole north of the canal, who come here to seek paradise, escape high taxes, and then turn around and try to terraform Sussex County to resemble the same shitholes from whence they came.

End of rant… bitch.

Post Script: Consider more burping and farting into the microphone. It will only endear you to the mouth breathers down here.

31. VooDoo politics - October 1, 2008

It is weird that Sarah has a ‘once a year’ visiting minister from Kenya, give her a blessing, and the whole liberal blogosphere goes nuts. Obama’s father is from Kenya. His brother is still there.
With that in mind, I believe Obama will abdicate his run for office. The Witch doctor will threaten to lay a curse on his brother. What happens in Kenya, stays in Kenya.

32. Roosevelt on TV - October 2, 2008

After the Debate, there is only one question concerning the VP.
Who do you want presiding over the US Senate?

If Palin wins, imagine Senator Biden, Six years to go.
Back in his Senate seat, looking up to the Woman that Beat him.

Didn’t we see Biden’s performance during a Senate confirmation hearing?

33. Jon - October 2, 2008

Miscreant,

It’s more of a comedy show on WGOD/WGOP really. I actually heard a guy call in the other day trying to get a reverse mortgage on a double wide trailer. Now that was hilarious.

34. ANON - October 2, 2008

miscreant: that means the guy asking for a reverse mortgage is elderly and sick. Can’t afford to live even in a double wide. I don’t think its hilarious I think its tragic. You can bet that schmuck will vote republican and vote against himself.

35. ANON - October 2, 2008

Voodoo! You might like the “witch doctor from Kenya”, unfortunately he now lives in Alaska. Palin not only visited him, he laid his hands on her to “chase away the witches”. She gave speeches afterwards giving “him credit for her win as Governor”.

Witch doctor laying hands on a witch, and you think Obamas former minister was bad…witchery was discarded in Salem a couple hundred years ago, but perhaps Palin and Alaska didn’t get that memo.

36. Truth Teller - October 2, 2008

The statements that CBS left on the cutting room floor are even worst.

37. Hube - October 2, 2008

The statements that CBS left on the cutting room floor are even worst.

Even “worst?” Nice.

Sorry, but until there’s proof, it’s hot air. Produce.

38. miscreant - October 2, 2008

“miscreant: that means the guy asking for a reverse mortgage is elderly and sick. Can’t afford to live even in a double wide. I don’t think its hilarious I think its tragic…”

I wasn’t the one who mentioned the reverse mortgage on the double wide. That would have been Jon. However, since you chose to speculate about the reason this character may have sought a reverse mortgage, please consider that it also could have been because he chose to live beyond his means, or perhaps made some other bad financial decisions, or that he may have been a fucking idiot. Maybe he just wanted some walking around money to take some sweet, young thing on a cruise trip.

It would seem to be a trailer park microcosm of what got us in this current “financial crisis”. Perhaps he should have considered that sleek little single wide. I lived in one for three years, and worked hard to save money to buy land and build a home. I got a fifteen year mortgage and paid it off in under seven. Now, everything I own, or will own, is paid for in cash.

Hey, at least the (alleged) poor, infirm, elderly wretch isn’t begging for a ‘bailout’, and is trying to solve his own problems. But if he, and those other (alleged) idiots, wanted things they couldn’t possibly afford, bite the dust, then I consider them as simply culled from the herd. Kind of like natural selection.
